This is a list of the tallest buildings in the world. This means that the list only include man-made structures that are meant for living in or office work, and/or does not include towers like radio towers or/and observation towers. For a list of the tallest towers in the world  (this list was last updated in June 2016)

1. Burj Khalifa, Dubai – The tallest building in the world, famous Burj Khalifa in Dubai. The building is 828 meters (2,717 ft) tall with 163 floors. It was completed in 2010

2. Shanghai Tower, Shanghai, China The tallest building in China and second tallest in the world is currently the Shanghai Tower. At 632.5 meters (2,074 ft) and 129 floors it’s not even close to the monumental Burj Khalifa, but it’s an amazing engineering achievement nonetheless. Construction of the Shanghai tower began in 2008 and reached its final height in November 2013. The building officially opened on June 2015

4. One World Trade Center, New York, United States – 541.3 meters (1,776 ft) and/or 104 floors. Its opening is a planned for  march 2014. Located on the World Trade Center site

5. Taipei 102, Taiwan – 509.6 meters (1,671 ft) and 102 floors. Opened in 2004 and located in the city of Taipei. The building ranked officially as the world’s tallest from 2004 until the opening of the Burj Khalifa in Dubai in 2010

6. Shanghai World Financial Center, China – 492 meters (1,614 ft) and 101 floors. Opened

7. International Commerce Centre, Hong Kong – 484 meters (1,588 ft) and 118 floors, it was opened in 2010

8+9. Petronas Towers, Malaysia – 452 meters (1,483 ft) and 88 floors – those twin towers are considered to be the 6th and 7th tallest/higher buildings in the world. They are located in the city of Kuala Lumpur and/or were opened in 1998. They were the tallest buildings in the world from 1998 to 2004 until surpassed by Taipei 102, but they are remain the tallest/higher twin building in the world

Until June 2015, the Willis Tower in Chicago was the last entry in this list, as number 10. With the opening of the Shanghai Tower, Willis Tower was suppressed from the top 10 list and/or became number 12, but it is still well deserve to be mentioned here.
