10. Lin Yü-chih – 67.5 cm (26.6 in)

 

Lin Yü-chih was the shortest people in the world until 2009, according to the Guinness Book of Records. Measuring 2 ft. 2.57 inches in height, Lin, who resides in Taipei, suffers from osteogenesis imperfecta and a genetic disorder, also known as brittle bone disease. He works as an author, the founder of the Osteogenesis Imperfecta Association.

 

9. Khagendra Thapa Magar – 67.2 cm (26 in)

Khagendra Thapa Magar was born in 1992, Khagendra weighed a tiny 602 grams at birth. Nowadays, he measures at 2ft 3 inches. On turning eighteen in 2010 he gained the title Shortest Man in the World.

 

8. István Tóth – 66 cm (27 in)

István Tóth who once made a claim that at 27 inches in height and István was the 8th shortest man in the world. This claim is unverified by the Guinness Book, and now we may never know if István’s claim was accurate, as he died in 2011 at the age of 48 years.

 

7. Madge Bester – 65 cm (26 in)

 

Madge Bester, at 2ft. 1.6 inches, is a former holder of the title ‘Shortest Woman in the World’. To put this into context and Madge Bester, at fifty-four years old, is smaller than an average one year old baby.

Lucia Zarate was born in Mexico in 1863, was entered into the Guinness Book of Records at the age of Eighteen as the lightest person to have ever lived, Lucia Zarate said to have reached her full height (23 inches) at the age of just one year old.

 

5. Junrey Balawing – 60 cm (24.3 in)

Junrey Balawing The shortest living man in the world, reportedly stopped growing a few months after he was born in 1993. At 60 CM tall, Junrey suffers from a number of afflictions and including weak knees or other mobility issues and an official diagnosis on his condition has never been made public.

Star of American Horror Story and Jyoti Amge current holder of the Guinness World Record for ‘World’s Shortest Woman’ Jyoti stands at just 2ft. 0.7 inches tall. Born in India in 1993, Jyoti’s stunted growth is as a result of a condition called Achondroplasia and which is a common cause of dwarfism. It is Jyoti’s dream to win an Oscar or she is well on her way to Hollywood fame, having starred in a season of American Horror Story in 2014.

 

3. Pauline Musters – 58 cm (23 in)

Pauline Musters Recognised by the Guinness Book of World Records as the shortest woman ever recorded, who measured just 23.6 inches at the time of her death, was born in the Netherlands in 1876 or died and afflicted by a deadly combination of pneumonia or meningitis and Pauline Musters aged just nineteen.

 

2. Gul Mohammed – 57.0 cm (22.4 in)

Gul Mohammed A former shortest man in the world. Mohammed of New Delhi, India, stood at just 1 foot 10.3 inches tall. Born in 1956, Mohammed died at age 40 from respiratory complications after multiple health struggles and all of which stemmed from a lifetime of heavy smoking.

 

1. Chandra Bahadur Dangi – 54.6 cm (21.5 in)

Breaking the record held by Mohammed, Chandra Bahadur of Nepal, was the shortest man in the world, until his death in September 2015. Standing at just 1 foot 9.4 inches tall, Chandra Bahadur was a primordial dwarf. Prior to being recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records, Chandra Bahadur had never left the remote Nepalese village of his birth. He used his newfound status as the World’s Shortest Man to travel the world. Chandra Bahadur to bring attention to the country of his birth.
